About

The story behind FFTB

FFTB exists because a comfortable life and an interesting one are rarely the same thing.

Francesco started spearfishing as a child, and the ocean never let go. For years it ran alongside a very different professional life — including a long stretch working in London — squeezed into weekends, holidays and any trip that could be justified by a coastline.

Eventually the balance tipped. He left that career to make spearfishing and ocean exploration the work rather than the escape.

Over roughly fifteen years he has spearfished in more than twenty countries and across very different marine environments: Europe and the UK, Central and South America, Africa, the South Pacific and Indonesia. Cold, murky, wild, tropical, crowded, empty. That range is the point — it teaches you to adapt fast, read water and fish behaviour, handle difficult conditions and stay safe while doing it.

Today he is based in Amed, Bali, working as a spearfishing guide and certified AIDA Freediving Instructor. Teaching is a large part of FFTB: helping divers move from tentative to capable, and from capable to genuinely good.

FFTB combines everyday Bali experiences with larger expeditions into remote parts of Indonesia — the kind of place where the reef has never been dived and the bluewater is genuinely unknown.
